This report by OCU and Salud por Derecho para No es Sano analyzes the situation and the impact of shortages in Spain and Europe. In Spain alone, supply problems have doubled from 2015 to 2019, especially affecting drugs for cardiovascular diseases, infections and cancers. The study denounces the opacity around the true causes of the shortages which, in many cases, are due to commercial strategies of the pharmaceutical industry to put pressure on governments when setting prices or to favor the entry into the market of more profitable drugs.
