NEW ORGANIZATIONS JOIN THE IT’S NOT HEALTHY CAMPAIGN

It’s Not Healthy is an organisation-driven campaign that works to defend and promote universal access to medicines as an essential aspect of the right to health.

Recently, five new civil society organizations – Anesvad, Union Sindical Obrera, Cesca, CESIDA and Mundo Sano – have joined the campaign by signing the It’s Not Healthymanifiesto and engaging with the campaign’s goals. The different profiles of these organizations is representative of the It’s Not Healthy chorality and its ambition for an open and collective participation of social actors in the campaign.

– Anesvad is a non-governmental development organization that aims to contribute to the promotion and protection of health.

– Unión Sindical Obrera is an independent union that makes a union work based on honesty, transparency, commitment and integrity.

– Cesca is a non-profit scientific association oriented towards research and on improving the quality of services and clinical work in primary care organizations.

– CESIDA is the HIV/AIDS state coordinator and the most representative body for the HIV/AIDS citizens’ movement in the Spanish state.

– Mundo Sano is a civil society organization whose vision is to transform the reality of the people affected by neglected diseases.

The campaign publicly invites all associations and organizations working for the defence of the right to health from any of its different perspectives, to formally join It’s Not Healthy, contributing to the achievement of its goals and being an active agent in promoting and disseminating the campaign’s messages. The specific objectives of It’s Not Healthy are:

– Promote public and political debate about the issues with the current medical R&D and innovation system and its impact on access to medicines and the sustainability of health systems, both in Spain and abroad.

– Encourage the government, political parties and other institutions to commit to a change in the medicines innovation model.

– Incorporate specific measures in electoral and government programmes and mobilise different social sectors.
